Red Lake County does not accept reinstatement fees. This office is only for first-time instruction permits, ID's and renewals.

Drivers Instruction Permit
You must submit a valid test score sheet or current permit. If you are replacing a lost or stolen permit, you must present Proof of Identity. A vision test will be taken. Applicants under 18 years of age must have the application notarized by a parent or guardian.
Fee: $29.50 (fee listed is effective January 1, 2024)
Please note that this office does NOT offer written or behind the wheel testing.
Drivers License Duplicate
Proof of Identity must be submitted when there is a change of any kind. Applicants under 18 years of age must have the application signed by a parent or guardian.
Fee: $26.00 (fee listed is effective January 1, 2024)
Drivers License Renewal
You must submit your current driver’s license. A vision test and photo will be taken. Applicants under 18 years of age must have their application signed by their parent or guardian.
We can not transfer an out of state driver’s license to Minnesota unless you have taken the Minnesota drivers written test. Any other inquiries please contact Red Lake County Recorder at 218-253-2997.
